Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to Roy.

You are a wonderful Father to Nathan. He loves you very much! You were also a wonderful Father to Rachel and she loved you too. And you are already are a wonderful Father to Baby.

We love you!

Happy Father’s Day to both our Fathers. Thank you for being such great Dad’s! We love you both very much!

Nathan’s Latest Sayings

Isn’t it cute when kids start trying to use words/phrases they hear and get it completely wrong? :) Well, you have to give them credit for trying. Here are some of Nathan’s attempts on words:

Nathan enjoys it when we have a cupboard holiday (public holiday) because then he gets to spend the whole day with his Daddy.

While we drive to playgroup, Nathan enjoys looking out the window and seeing the falimo’s (flamingo’s).

When we go to the doctor, Nathan knows that there isn’t always parking – he reminds me that we should rather do villa parking (Vallet Parking).

Have a happy day!

Efficiency?

If nothing else, living in Dubai has opened up our world to the noticable effects of progress and efficiency, in sharp contrast to what we accepted to me the norm growing up in South Africa.

It’s not just the obvious, like the “drive-through Pharmacies”, or the 15 minutes wait for the issuing of a drivers license from Dubai transport authority vs. 3 hours queuing, 6 weeks wait, and then another 2 hours queuing for a similar document in South Africa.

No, surprise is when Nathan sent his Grandma and Wuvie a ‘hello’ card – He posted it last week Thursday, and we were told was received yesterday in South Africa, i.e 6 days turnaround, not bad hey?

Well compare that to a letter I received today from my bank in SA, dated 1st December 2005.

Yup, surprise is how something that takes a day in Dubai takes a month in South Africa :-)
